According to the City’s website, “the Commission performs such functions as preparing and adopting a plan for the physical development of the City. The Commission implements the plan through administration of the City’s zoning and subdivision codes, and recommends amendments to the zoning ordinance to the City Commission. The Planning Commission may appoint employees necessary to accomplish its work. The employees are subject to the same provisions governing other City employees. The Planning Commission may also contract with City planners, engineers, architects and other consultants for services.”
