Roll call- didn’t hear Coleman Young, James Tate, Angela Whitfield-Calloway- Fred Durhal running late.
They are updating council on where they are in the “process”. Lots of charts…going over quickly! Members don’t have copy of presentation
Advisory group-citizens They say they wanted diverse representation….age etc…bit certain of how application process went (only online, where published etc.)
Member Calloway asking some ? About the Project, & citizen responses from citizens & how they got them. She found out about it at Livernois Jazz on the Ave advised staff was professional. Was advised mainly online responses.
Mary Waters said it was her 1st day hearing of this plan…& asked if they have worked with any council members task force. Advised no. She wants to hear more about it. People calling her knew about it before she knew about it. She didnt have any info to provide them.
Members are ? How citizens are being engaged (survey ?’s & outreach).
Member Calloway asked the presenters if they lived in Detroit…1 was not…she said she’s curious about non citizens being involved.
Mary Waters ? How people can get in advisory committee. Was advised it is closed for applications (got a laugh & a wow from council who seems to feel if they didn’t know about it, how would people.) Waters -“they probably did not know that they could apply, cause I didn’t know.”
President Sheffield is ? If council was requested for nominations/suggestions. Was advised they had some nominations/suggestions and took them seriously. Pro Tem Tate said he had seen a couple emails advising of the advisory council.
Resident advised of building issues with Himelhoch Apartments - Unable to utilize the entrance door caused concusion of resident Ester due to having to walk in alley. Unsafe- They asked for Building Safety to review.
Resident Perry Columbus bought house from land bank…he’s a disabled veteran. They plexy glasses his house while he was away. He lives there.- Member Calloway asked why they would not extend time frame for resident- like they do for businesses. Member Waters upset as well.

@freep @DetDocumenters 15.3 Higginbotham School developed into multi family housing. Member Calloway expressed joy with the fact the school is not being demolished but being used for housing. @freep @DetDocumenters 16.2 member Calloway wants to inquire about the $2.5 million they approved for safety for police/fire- Item is to pay person in accident with marked police car for $17,500. Item moved to later in meeting while they try to get representative to answer Calloways ?
@freep @DetDocumenters Correction—-on PLANNING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STANDING COMMITTEE 17.1 was unfinished business- passed. All other items from this committeee passed.
@freep @DetDocumenters New Business- 21 items 18.1-18.21 Young advised these are events- Sheffield 18.21 ? Restrooms at Hart Plaza and cleanliness. Young said would like administration to look into.

@freep @DetDocumenters Back to 16.1- lawsuit settlement- Member Calloway ? $2.7 million (not $2.5) for safety…police representative advised they never received that funding. She will look into it. It is now approved.
