Remote

This is a remote assignment to cover the first of four virtual town halls in the community engagement process to redesign SQRP, CPS’ controversial method of measuring school success.

From the accountability redesign webpage:

The town hall meetings will provide an overview of the history and purpose of school accountability. The town halls, which will be simultaneously aired in Spanish, will offer community members an opportunity to provide feedback directly to CPS and the Board of Education. Community feedback will be combined with research and data on school quality measurements of CPS schools to present an SQRP redesign to the Board of Education for approval in April 2022. This new SQRP will be applied to the 2022-2023 school year.

After initial feedback meetings, the district will engage in a set of deeper, more intensive engagement through stakeholder-specific focus groups, surveys, workshops and other research and data collection. The perspectives, input, and ideas generated through these discussions will be presented to the advisory group on a frequent, ongoing basis and ultimately reflected in the final proposed policy developed by the advisory group.
