Today’s meeting focuses on the Mental Health System Expansion report, developed by the Treatment Not Trauma working group.
Last fall, Mayor Johnson @Brandon4Chicago & Ald. Rodriguez-Sanchez @RossanaFor33 co-sponsored legislation establishing the MHSE Working Group. It aims to realize the Treatment Not Trauma vision with a funded public care system & citywide crisis response. #MentalHealth
@Brandon4Chicago @RossanaFor33 The MHSE Working Group in Chicago integrates mental health programs across city departments, aligns funding priorities, & strategizes on capital plans. Goals: to enhance mental health services through collaborative efforts, ensuring a seamless continuum of care for all Chicagoans
The committee meeting is lead by Chairman Ald. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (Ward 33) The report is introduced with a letter written by @RossanaFor33
The public comment session turned up a lil heat & several commenters were removed bc they refused to give the other speakers their alloted time & space. As a witness to this heated ordeal, I think Chairman Rodriguez-Sanchez made the right call.
Key objectives from the report include:
Expanding mental health clinical services
Enhancing non-police crisis interventions
Educating communities about available mental health resources
