Today’s Police Board meeting is taking place at 7:30 at the Chicago Public Safety Headquarters
The meeting has begun. There are no new updates regarding status of litigation on the arbitrator’s ruling regarding police disciplinary cases
Next item on the agenda is police disciplinary cases. One do solo art case is reviewed and the board passes the motion
Board member gives report on behalf of police Superintendent Snelling. Recently there was a March for officers who’ve passed away. The board members says they are still investigating the death of Police Officer, Luis Huesca

Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety, Tobara Richardson reports, 292 complaints reviewed, highest complaints was first amendment violations. COPA People’s academy , 6 week courses starts May 21st at North Park Academy. To teach people how COPA addresses investigations
Kimberly Green, group of neighbors working with 1st and 3rd district. Here to talk about incidents that have occurred in her neighborhood in the past week. She says there’s a dire need for equitable distribution of police resources
The next public comment reiterated the need for resources in the 3rd district. She says her group address litter. She says they need police officers to address “troubled buildings” to mitigate the challenges in her district.
The next public comment is from another member of the 3rd district. She says that they have worked to close a liquor store on cottage grove.
The next public comment is from Mr. Brandon. He says he is disappointed that attendees we’re not let in until the board members arrive. He says the barricades were put up to block off the only sitting area. He says that it’s disrespectful and an overkill.
Next public comment, is from Coby from CAARPR, he says he’s here to talk about justice for Dexter Reed which he says looks like firing and convicting the police involved. “We need to have systemic changes that result in the community actually having control of the police”
He says pretextual traffic stops need to be abolished along with tactical teams. He echoes the last comment saying that the barricades shouldn’t be up
Next public comment is also asking for justice for Dexter Reed. She draws connections between the dehumanization of black and brown communities and asks to press charges against police officers and end pretextual stops.
