The second speaker raises concerns about CCOPA and the lack of response to the use of illegal force against an imprisoned man in 2019. There was only three speakers. The last one was a police officer asking for CCOPA to make it possible for the public to leave compliments.
The minutes of the pervious meeting has been approved and now is nominating a man to the non citizen advisory council. He is affirmed.
There will be an ammendment to posting their information for follow up questions. There is a website that can be used but it will be updated to be more accessible and useful to the public.
There was a decision made months ago to track the comments and concerns of the public through ten different committees. Now, those ten committees will be dissolved. It is being said the same work will be done, but committee placement will no longer hinder progress.
Now a presentation on the history of CCOPA and its future. There are 22 district police council. Each council will be 3 members. District council members will be found via voting. This is being done to allow more transparency within CPD.
For those wondering, the budget for the creation of these councils has already been set aside and cannot be reduced and changed in any way.
It is being said that the police districts will ensure that at least once a month the public can comment and question the actions of their local policing.
The function of these district councils will be applying pressure to the comminsers that are supposed to serve the public. Given the immensely important function of these councils, there will be a 3-day training program.
Now the meeting is focusing on officer wellness. There has been concerns of officers given that seven officers killed themselves in 2022.
This is starting to feel like cop-ganda at this point. The meeting has been focused on officer wellness for the past 15 minutes.
Now an important factor has been brought to light. How do we balance giving enough time off to officers for them to be with family or for leisure. There have been documented cases of police officers burning themselves.
Wow, so there is an officer returning to CPD even after having his ties to the Proud Boys exposed. Apparently, white supremacy is not quite disqualifier for CPD.
