Alders voted to approve Jose Tirado as executive director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC).

@CHIdocumenters Teron Simms commented and mentioned the multiple organizations looking to make the public safer but pointed out that Black people are still dying.

@CHIdocumenters He also noted that much of the efforts of the Public Safety Committee are more for political agenda than actually making the city safer for Black children and people.

@CHIdocumenters He talked about his qualifications for the role of Executive director which included acting as the chief of the Bureau of Counterterrorism.

@CHIdocumenters In response to a question about what Tirado's CPD experience brings to this new role, Tirado spoke about the addition of many districts. This allows him to understand the districts and large events from a CPD perspective. He said he now has knowledge of OEMC and CPDs perspective
