INVEST process began nearly a year ago to redevelop block on Ogden & North Lawndale; prioritized community involvement to ensure local needs are met.

Hacker shares that tonight's meeting is focused on presenting the three top development proposals, answering questions, and getting initial public feedback

Elevate Hive is first to present, team includes: Miller & Ferguson, Hive Cosmetology & Fragrance School, Rankins Group, & Structure Group
Bambi Montgomery presents the Elevate Hive Health & Wellness proposal; emphasizes development concept has gone through rigorous evaluation with deep community involvement. Health & Wellness project aims to support the North Lawndale Quality of Life Plan.

Completion date projected to be April 7 of 2023, total investment of $52,773,592.00. Development will include retail, cosmetology school, and housing elements. Sustainability is a focus & will feature locally sourced materials.
African History Museum: 'Crown & Glory', will be an interactive experience on site.
Development projected to bring in $5-10M annually in reinvestment to the community. Elevate & Hive school will be focused on entrepreneurial development in the beauty & wellness space.
Q & A: Financing for the project? Capital stack includes debt & equity financing. Request TIF funds of $1.8M. How will construction accommodate for traffic flow & other impacts? Parking + Ogden inner drive will remain open. Notes apartments will be available for student housing.
Q & A: How will project benefit community & how many members of team are North Lawndale residents? Health & Wellness services will offer discounts to local residents. Montgomery has worked in area for years, John Fonz also a resident.
Q & A: Accredited cosmetology program? Yes, certificate given to graduates to legally practice cosmetology in the state of IL. The market for health & wellness products is expanding so the product development arm will be significant source of economic development.
'Nose University' @ University will expose local children to aromatherapy & support cognitive development.
Local hair salons, including Paul Mitchell, have demonstrated interest in developing talent for not only hair stylists, but for business owners as well. Hive seeks to meet this need.
Public space will be an element of both school & residential areas. Museum further serves as community space.
66 units of housing will be included, 18 of those studios. priced at $796 a month. 36 1-bed units priced at $853. $1050 for 12 2-bed units.
