Remote

This assignment is in collaboration with education reporter, Yana Kunichoff from Chalkbeat Chicago, to cover Local School Council (LSC) virtual candidate forums. If assigned, your role as a Documenter will be to either A) take notes or B) live-tweet. In addition to the typical information covered in note-taking and live-tweeting, we are asking assigned Documenters to focus on major themes or issues that are raised about the school community.

This is a remote meeting. You can access the Zoom videoconference here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87582177389?pwd=REwxejk5Z1dMRlV5ZjNBTklLZU8yQT09

To protect against possible Zoom-bombing, do not repost the meeting link publicly on Twitter. Instead, you can send direct people interested in viewing to this assignment page.

Agency Information

Chicago Public Schools Local School Councils

Chicago Public Schools have Local School Councils (LSC) which are responsible for three main duties: Approving how school funds and resources are allocated, developing and monitoring the annual School Improvement Plan and evaluating and selecting the school’s principal. Traditional Local School Councils consist of the following members: 6 parents, 2 community members, 2 teachers, 1 non-teacher staff, the school’s principal and a student representative (high school LSCs only). NOTE: The meetings held by this agency are published on a static webpage. We recommend contacting the Office of Local School Council Relations to confirm meeting dates and times.*
