The meeting started on time. Several commissioners did not respond as being present for roll call.

Chair Gwendolyn Hatten Butler nominates commissioner Christopher Wheat to be the new commission secretary and is approved.
Will Reynolds @willinois 4/16
The public can make written comments or ask to speak 24 hours in advance of the meeting. None were submitted.
Will Reynolds @willinois 5/16
The first agenda item is presented by Brian O'Donnell from the Department of Housing. They're proposing selling 7 pieces of land to Prodigy LLC as part of the City Lots for Working Families program.

Chicago Alderman Michael Scott speaks to "give my support to this project. It's something we've been working on for 4 or 5 years." It's part of work to repopulate North Lawndale "where the housing stock has been decimated."
Will Reynolds @willinois 8/16
Scott continues; it's important because they're building two-flats. Owners will get city subsidies to make it more affordable. Thanks the department of housing for their work on this.

Chair Butler is very formal about describing meeting procedure. The motion passes.
Will Reynolds @willinois 9/16
Next agenda item regards "construction of public infrastructure required" for the former Morton Salt area development. This project has been in the news: blockclubchicago.org/2021/09/14/fam…

Solis says, "Ultimately our goal will be to get to this. Known as salt district."
I'd say it's ironically named considering how many local music venues are salty about the project. https://t.co/xI4x9dfEgG
Will Reynolds @willinois 14/16
Chicago Alderman Walter Burnett speaks in favor of the project.
Commissioner Christopher Wheat asks what the overall status of the project is. And what becomes the status of the loan if the project fails.
Will Reynolds @willinois 15/16
Solis responds the city is protected if the project fails.
Tyler Quast from the developer says the project is going ahead, on track to open by summer of next year.

The project is approved without further discussion with all commissioners voting in favor.
Will Reynolds @willinois 16/16
Commissioner Shirley Newsome asks Brian O'Donnell about the first agenda item again. Wants to make sure multiple developers are considered and avoid having too many cookie cutter houses in the same area.

Meeting adjourns. That concludes my tweeting for @CHIdocumenters
