  • Administration shared the official fall 2022 enrollment count for K-12: 27,946. This is a decrease of about 1,200 students from last year.

  • Josh Downham, lobbyist for the district, presented on priorities for the 2023 legislative session. The majority of this year’s agenda comes from prior years’ agendas due to being unsuccessful in completing goals. Many board members spoke about their hopeful attitude toward being able to achieve most of the agenda items because of the Minnesota Midterm Election results.

  • Staff presented on a proposal to have all high schools start at 8:30 a.m. (currently, the five high schools have different start times, beginning classes between 7:45 and 8:15).

  • Notable approvals from the consent agenda: Approved spending $30 million on a new virtual tutoring service, building repairs, memorials, new school security enhancements and to end the COVID vaccine student/teacher mandate
